Google Analytics 4
Connecting Google Analytics 4 (GA4) layers real traffic data on top of your SEO rankings and AI visibility metrics β so you can see which prompts and keywords actually drive sessions, conversions, and engaged users.
GA4 is optional. All core features work without it, but the Journey Analytics and Insights Dashboard are noticeably richer when GA4 is connected.
Connecting your account
- Go to Settings β Integrations β Google Analytics 4.
- Click Connect Google account and sign in with the account that has access to your GA4 property.
- Grant the read-only Analytics permissions.
- Pick the GA4 property that matches your site.
You need at least the Viewer role on the GA4 property. Universal Analytics (the legacy product, sunset July 2023) is not supported.
What gets imported
For each connected property, we pull (daily):
- Sessions, engaged sessions, and engagement rate
- Users and new users
- Conversions and conversion rate (for the events you mark as key events in GA4)
- Landing page and source/medium dimensions
- Country and device segments
This data feeds:
- The Journey Analytics funnel (impression β click β session β conversion)
- The Insights Dashboard quadrant chart (visibility Γ traffic)
- The AI vs. SEO traffic split view
Daily sync
GA4 data refreshes once per day around 05:30 Europe/Zurich (UTC+2), right after the GSC sync completes. Google publishes GA4 data with a ~24-hour processing delay, so the latest available date is typically yesterday.
You can trigger a manual refresh anytime from Settings β Integrations β Google Analytics 4 β Sync now.
Key events (conversions)
GeoBubbles uses whatever events you have marked as key events in GA4 (Admin β Events β Mark as key event) as conversions. If no key events are configured, the conversion columns will show β.
To get the most out of the Insights Dashboard, mark at least one meaningful event β for example generate_lead, purchase, or contact_form_submit β as a key event in GA4.
Permissions and security
GeoBubbles requests read-only GA4 access (analytics.readonly). We cannot create or modify properties, change event configuration, edit audiences, or export user-level data. You can revoke access anytime from your Google account security page or by clicking Disconnect in Settings β Integrations.
Troubleshooting
- Property not listed β make sure the Google account you used has at least the Viewer role on the GA4 property (Admin β Property access management).
- Numbers don't match the GA4 UI β GA4 applies thresholding for low-volume dimensions and uses modeled data for consented users. Small differences (< 10%) are expected.
- Conversion columns are empty β mark the relevant events as key events in GA4 and wait for the next daily sync.
